Open Source House

You are about to witness a quantum leap in design and accessibility of housing in developing countries. The event is the birth of an open source on the web that offers professional designs for affordable, durable, modular and climate-specific houses. The designs are brought in by architects from all over the world and are continually under construction in search of the solutions most suitable to the needs and preferences of the local buyers and future owners of these houses.

We want to make knowledge and creativity in housing accessible to a large group of people and are looking for architects to bring in new ideas. Welcome to Open Source House.

What is reality?

If we go inside the atom, the very nucleus that this universe is created from, and if we zoom in very, very deep will go inside this other universe that also does not have borders!? So we come to conclusion that reality is only that what is based on perceptions. I don't know what I've just said now but it came to me... :0. This perception of reality that we perceive, is received by the senses. I definitely cannot explain this in plane English, but some people tried to explain, and one of them is Immanual Kant. Kant is German influential philosopher of modern Europe in 18th-century, the classic sequence of the theory of knowledge during the Enlightenment beginning with thinkers John Locke, George Berkeley, and David Hume.

He explained:

All the preparations of reason, therefore, in what may be called pure philosophy, are in reality directed to those three problems only [God, the soul, and freedom]. However, these three elements in themselves still hold independent, proportional, objective weight individually. Moreover, in a collective relational context; namely, to know what ought to be done: if the will is free, if there is a God, and if there is a future world. As this concerns our actions with reference to the highest aims of life, we see that the ultimate intention of nature in her wise provision was really, in the constitution of our reason, directed to moral interests only.

If you understand what he just said up there, please do comment to explain to us...?

And further element to the puzzle is this video documentary about the reality and atom. 'Atom: The Illusion Of Reality' is a BBC Documentary on the nature of reality, the emptiness of an atom and all matter, parallel universes where different versions of us exist and the seemingly emptiness of space which really isn't empty at all.

Why we are created from carbon?

This is the most interesting question for scientists and ordinary people who have any idea what are we made of. If we go deeper and deeper in our material craftsmanship, we'll see what does it takes to construct a living creature. We are made of atom!? Yes, but which atom is the most interesting part.

The universe consists of:

1. hydrogen (H) 70.0 %;
2. helium (He) 28.0%;
3. oxygen (O) 0.92 %;
4. carbon (C) 0.34 %;
5. nitrogen (N) 0.12 %.

All living creatures on Earth are created by this elements, without helium. The most abundant in the universe is the hydrogen! In Latin "Hydrogenium", derives from the Greek words "hydro" - water and "genes" - born. Hydrogen on the Earth is most abundant in water and forms of chemical compounds such as hydrocarbons.
In General all this elements are also known as the four elements of life: water (hydrogen), fire (oxygen), earth (carbon) and air (nitrogen). The Earth atmosphere (the garden of life) is consisted from 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. And we also know that when something burns it oxidize. The marriage of this two (nitrogen-oxygen) are one part of the conditions of life, and water with carbon are the other part where water is the dominant element, so this is why Earth is known as watery planet.
The chemical combination is taking place thanks to carbon, only carbon atoms have four arms for bonding and are able to combine with hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon in various manners. As a result, a variety of organic molecules with different chemical reactions and functions would be created. It is, however, not easy to bond small molecules together and create polymers. External energy or some catalysts are necessary to do that. So this organic molecules are combined in Polymers and this Polymers gather together and create the functions of life. The organic molecules, whose main structures are made of carbon atoms, seem to polymerize and become complicated polymer substances such as protein and DNA.

In plain English: Humans are created from big amount of oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and other smaller amounts of other elements and compounds. A child life before is born starts in water for 9 months where goes through the entire evolution of life that is found on Earth and is born as Amphibian. This combination is the most complex organ combined with all this ingredients that are part of everything in this Universe. This complex community does not last long, but while lasts the manager (WE/OUR SELF) should give it an unconditional-great time full of life. The most usual communication with this system is the instinct, intuition, inner voice, guts, hart, soul and etc. Everything else is orders by the manager...

You do the mathematics now!

Internet the Collective Mind

The Internet is nothing more then a collective conscience! You don't have to experience much to overcome one obstacle, someone else already experienced! You can recall it from the Internet (the collective brain) and try to solve it!

How we think and do things in our life from young age, we learn to overcome everything empirically. So if we ride a bicycle without holding the handles on rough terrains, we much likely fall immediately. But we have the information that we must hold the handles in order to go further distance, so we hold on to it. Thе same works with the Internet too. If we have any doubts or questions about something and if we do not find that information from a person near by, we immediately search the Internet, most commonly using Google search engine. If we have vacation plans we visit sites that have comments from people that already went there and we read their experience, so if it suites us we go to that place too. For learning things is also very, very useful to use the Internet in any area of knowledge, even agriculture. We learn how much people died in some conflict or war so we know the truth about how bad this is and stop doing it. If we have love problems we can search advices from experienced to better our love lives and use it in everyday life. This is why the Internet is here in first place. To share our thoughts (blog posts), to share information, research, observation, experience, or experiment. This how our brain works and it works empirically, and this is clearly shown in child's beginning of live. That is why the young generation is known smarter then the old one, it shares the information from the previous one and use it to learn new stuff to leave that information to the next. And if we think as one brain which is connected through the Internet, than we'll become more natural and better connected with nature and share the problems or solutions in this organism called Earth.

The Venus Project

The Venus Project presents a bold, new direction for humanity that entails nothing less than the total redesign of our culture. There are many people today who are concerned with the serious problems that face our modern society: unemployment, violent crime, replacement of humans by technology, over-population and a decline in the Earth's ecosystems.

As you will see, The Venus Project is dedicated to confronting all of these problems by actively engaging in the research, development, and application of workable solutions. Through the use of innovative approaches to social awareness, educational incentives, and the consistent application of the best that science and technology can offer directly to the social system, The Venus Project offers a comprehensive plan for social reclamation in which human beings, technology, and nature will be able to coexist in a long-term, sustainable state of dynamic equilibrium.

Web 3.0 the next concept

Today we are witnesses of the changes that arrived in the Internet World. In 2009 the concept Web 2.0 (2005-2008) is sort of dead. The new approach today from the users and companies, is very different. The Web 2.0 concept is oriented in sharing content, personal blog, XML and RSS, tagging, Google, Wikipedia, web applications and community oriented. There ware also some design approaches that ware different from Web 1.0 concept.

But what we have now?
  • Personal Web
  • Focusing on the Individuals
  • Lifestream
  • Widgets
  • Open & Structured Data
  • Filtering & Dynamic Content
  • Semantic Web
Lots of people already tagged Web 3.0 as a semantic web. Web 3.0 will be all about semantic web!? What is semantic web (Wikipedia):

The Semantic Web is an evolving extension of the World Wide Web in which the semantics of information and services on the web is defined, making it possible for the web to understand and satisfy the requests of people and machines to use the web content.[1][2] It derives from World Wide Web Consortium director Sir Tim Berners-Lee's vision of the Web as a universal medium for data, information, and knowledge exchange.[3]

Also the concept of Social Network will be replaced by People Search. This means that if I put a proper name into the search engine of Web 3.0 it would provide the running profile of your presence on the web. This would show everything in the web that has been tagged as belonging to you, ordered by community validation and relevance. Your page would contain both information that you have written about yourself. I think this concept is very close to what we have now in 2009, but for more clear head about Web concepts and the difference between Web 1.0, Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 you should visit this links that are listed below.
Hope this will bring the idea closer to what really is happening on the net.

Designer, Client, Relationship

As a Designer and creative services giver I see the work process from different angle. Usually when a Graphic Designer (from any category: web, artist, 3D, animator, illustrator, matter, photographer etc.) works at some agency the Client contact is obtained from other person, this is Client Service person, or Project Manager. The first brief/quest from the Client is given to this Client Service (CS) person and after that filtration the Designer gets the work brief that he needs in order to get the job done. But usually the CS person do not get the real idea or the real need that the Client is asking for. So the Designer will receive wrong brief and the job is not done as it should be and continues in send and receive preview, fix this, not that, maybe this font, another color etc. This leads to conflict with the Client - Designer and should be prevented in first place. Also the Client doesn't want to be bombarded with the way of his request is created. The Client should be focused 70% on his business and 30% on his presentation/marketing, not opposite. Usually the Client tells what he wants with the first brief and after that he should receive his product (creative work) done with the real story from the medium or the communication from that design work. My opinion is that the first brief should get the Designer along with the CS person. Or if is written (by e-mail) than the Designer should receive the original e-mail from the Client. The Designer knows what to do after that. Also the Designer can educate the Client how to carry out his service in order to get the most of it. The Designer also knows what colors to use, font, photo, logo and corporate materials, nor the CS or the Client knows this better. I don't want to attack the CS person, just the opposite, if this is done the stress will be reduced to a minimal level and the time needed for the project will be at least 50% shorter.

Some Designers does not want to communicate with Clients but they should consider finding a quality/qualified Client Service person.

Why to start a blog?

This question is usually floating around in our heads in random form and time. I've asked my self the same question. After reading bunch of blogs from the most popular bloggers on the Internet I'll separate the reasons to start a blog in 5 categories:

  • Personal (for the people that know me and some relatives)
  • Fun (do some blogging from time to time and have fun doing it)
  • Profit (passionate blogger will do post for any reason - every day)
  • Self promotion (I do blog and have services to sell)
  • Competent (professional advice in the specilized area)

This categories are usually recognized on the Internet. There are other reasons too but this are the main in my opinion.

Personal, this sort of blogging use people who will blog for documentation purposes, holiday pictures, bad day at work, birthday party at my friend, etc. This sort of blog is good and comfy and is read by small group of people as it meant to.

Fun way of having a blog is also personal and interesting cos this writers usually do not care what kind of people read the blog, they just want to get it out in the open. Let's have fun!

Profit is one of the hardest ways for starting a blog, but many people succeeded, so can you. More for this you can find at www.problogger.net great advices and much, much more.

Self promotion is very simple. I'm a freelance designer (programer, writter, photographer etc.) and my portfolio and services are great, but my web site is not popular. So to atract some action and readers (and clients also) I better start a blog that will be implement in my web site and use it for self promtion. Freelanceswitch published this post about: 6 Reasons Why Freelancers Should Have a Niche Blog, by the way I like blogging too, just not often, from time to time.

Competent advice is pro blog usualy supported by some Corporation or News portal where people who have proven there knowladge in the specilized area give advices, useful stuff and tips for readers. Can be personal powered or under some corporation. This guys are usually the moving power in the digital world.
